Beast Black. Beast Gold.

Our mission is to educate, develop and elevate Ontario lacrosse players with elite coaching and meaningful games against the top competition in North America.

In ten years BEAST has grown into the most competitive travel program in Ontario, with players coming from all over the province. Our teams are known for a relentless, hardworking, gritty style of play, and they're coached by some of the best in Canada.

The program is built around elite-level hockey players, so athletes can play both sports at the highest level without choosing between them. Our schedule doesn't conflict with OLA box lacrosse or hockey. Players keep their home club and their hockey team.

The pathway

Sport is the vehicle. Education is the goal.

We use lacrosse to open doors: prep school, NCAA programs and the education that comes with them. Our coaches have walked this road, and they help BEAST families plan every step of it.

  1. Step 1

    Develop at BEAST

Skills, athleticism and compete habits from coaches who've played at the top level, on Beast Black and Beast Gold travel teams.

  2. Step 2

    Get seen

Our 2028–2033 grad classes travel to the top U.S. tournaments and recruiting showcases, in front of the prep school and college coaches who build rosters.

  3. Step 3

    Prep school

Our story

Born in the Beaches.

What started as a way to get hockey players into lacrosse is now Ontario's most competitive travel program, and a pathway to prep school and the NCAA.

It started in 2003, when Bob Acton opened an after-school program in the Beaches that mixed hockey with homework help. Bob Acton Sports grew into a hub for young athletes, built on one idea: develop every kid to love the game for life.

BEAST began by bringing hockey players into lacrosse, and the program quickly outgrew its roots. Within a few seasons BEAST was the most competitive travel program in Ontario, drawing players from every corner of the province, all on a schedule that never conflicts with OLA box or hockey. Our 2009 team alone had 11 players drafted to the OHL.

Today the goal is bigger than wins. We use sport as a vehicle for education: developing players who can earn a place at prep school and in NCAA programs, and guiding their families through every step. BEAST players are already at U.S. prep schools. BEAST Lacrosse now has a home of its own.

Parents' questions

Before you book.

Registration runs through Mindbody. These answers save most families an email.

How do I set up my Mindbody account?

Create the account under your child's name, not yours. If it's under your name you won't see their schedule and may miss important emails.

Opt in to all emails when you sign up. We communicate by email often and can't add you manually because of privacy laws.

I'm registering more than one child

Create an account for the oldest child first, then add the others as family members using the same email address. Then email us and we'll link the accounts and send passwords for the additional players. Linked accounts can share multi-week discounts. A single camp week can't be split between players.

To see each player's schedule, log in to each account separately.

What's the cancellation policy?

There are no refunds on camp or session purchases. Cancel at least seven days before the program starts and we'll issue a credit, valid for six months from purchase. Missed days or single sessions aren't credited.

What equipment does my player need?

Cubs Club needs a lacrosse stick only. For camps and skills sessions, bring a stick, gloves, helmet, shoulder and elbow pads, and cleats (preferred). No lacrosse gear yet? Hockey equipment works fine.

Send a hat, sunscreen, an extra shirt, a refillable water bottle, lunch and snacks. We're a nut-free program. Please label everything.

What does the travel team commitment look like?

Selected players get a six-week fall schedule, two team days over the winter, eight spring practices and two U.S. tournaments: upstate New York and Pennsylvania for younger teams, and the top U.S. tournaments and recruiting showcases for the 2028–2033 grad classes. Home base is Sundays at Birchmount Stadium, with some practices at Vaso's Field in Oshawa and St. Andrew's College in Aurora.

Will BEAST conflict with OLA box or hockey?

No. The travel schedule is built so it doesn't conflict with OLA box lacrosse or hockey. Players stay with their home box club and their hockey team, and play BEAST on top of both. Our 2009 team had 11 players drafted to the OHL.

My child plays hockey. Is lacrosse a fit?

It's the best crossover sport there is. Lacrosse builds hand-eye coordination, conditioning and comfort with contact, and the positional awareness and battle skills transfer straight to the ice. BEAST schedules are built around hockey.

Can a younger player train with an older group?

Yes. At camps, younger players with advanced skills may train with older groups. Mention it when you register.
